Full Name: Zachary David Harris or "Zeke"
Age: 36
Gender: Male
Height: 6'10ft
Weight: 245lb
Species: Wizard
Ethnicity: Caucasian (Polish/Norwegian)
Occupation: Rancher
DOB: February 14, 1979
Significant Other: None
Children: Etain (16)
Appearance: Best described as a scarecrow, flannel shirts and beat up jeans included. Perpetually hunched over, Zeke has frightening large hands and isn't what you'd call graceful by any means. If it wasn't for his height, Zeke wouldn't be anyone who stood out in a crowd or left a lasting impression. He has a short beard, ditchwater brown eyes, and unruly hair that has a bad habit of sticking up and making him look as if he'd just been shocked.
Personality: Zeke has spent most of his life feeling out of place, and the more he grew, the more distinct the feeling became. He's never fit in particularly well, and struggles with expressing himself clearly. It isn't an issue of not knowing what to say, but an issue of not knowing how to say it.
Despite these troubles, Zeke enjoys being around those he knows well, and strives to help whenever he can. He is selfless to a fault and would give someone the shirt off his back if they asked. Eager to please others and be involved in their lives, the wizard could be easily manipulated--and has been, to devastating effect. These days, he is a more cautious soul and more likely to doubt others.
Zeke's a clever man, and will doggedly pursue problems until he solves them. He doesn't believe in ultimatums, or absolutes. Magic exists to change things, for the better, and he strives to do so.
History: Born in Montana to a young witch and her lover. His mother was a rebellious woman and the talk of her small town for running off to marry her high school sweetheart, Jack Quincy. At sixteen she gave birth to Zachary Harris, ushered into the world on Valentine's Day. Neither of his parents were ready to care for a child, and predictably, the two drifted apart, Quincy leaving two years later and Grace following soon after.
In the care of his grandparents, Zeke had a relatively normal childhood. He worked closely with his grandfather, a trail guide, operating a hunting outfit in the nearby Elkhorn Mountains.
After the passing of his grandparents, Zeke becomes the sole owner of his family's farm and the outfit at seventeen. He soon begins efforts to expand his knowledge, and as time passes, begins to travel and involve himself more deeply within the magical community, neglecting the farm. In his early twenties, Zeke finds himself deeply entwined with the Aos Sí, with all of its accompanying joys and terrors. One of which is a daughter, born to a Fae woman who had acted as a teacher for him. He spends the next decade of his life among them, raising his daughter and acting as a go-between for the world of the Aos Sí and humans.
When Etain, his daughter turns twelve years old, he decides to return to the mountains of his birth--and takes her with him, to the outrage of her mother. Now at sixteen, the two live comfortably enough together, with Zeke trying to return to farm work, while still working and traveling for his old contacts.
Magical Abilities: While just a child in the view of his kind, Zeke has always been somewhat precocious in his magic. His abilities manifested at eleven when his spelling test caught on fire.
Keeps a familiar. If taken, these can be used as a direct conduit to the wizard, but for Zeke the benefits outweigh the risks. With the right spells he is able to see through their eyes, as well as number of other things. His first successful familiar was made at age 15 in the form of a paint stallion named Ghost.
Has a fine hand for potion making, through trial and error, with the help of characters both benevolent and unsavory, he's become quite the encyclopedia of draughts, elixirs, and all other manner of brewed magic.
Most of Zeke's magic is 'physical' rather than 'mental'. He's able to control the elements to varying degrees, but he'd be utterly inept at mind control or telepathy.
Misc. Information:
- He's deathly allergic to strawberries.
- Has reading glasses.
- Loves reading, particularly fantasy books. He has a collection including Jack London, J.R Tolkien, Louis L'Amour, and J.K Rowling's complete works.
- Greatly knowledgeable about horses. There is no time wasted in the saddle. Mundane things, not so much. If asked, Zeke couldn't tell you who Brad Pitt was or how many presidents of the US there are.
