New York City
Manhattan and its surrounding boroughs are, to the unknowing eye, much the same in Low Sun as in our universe. Characters wandering the city may find themselves in mirrors of many establishments we would all recognize; Central Park carves a strip through a landscape crafted of towering skyscrapers and arrow-straight streets of asphalt and concrete. It is only when you slip between the cracks that New York's seedy underbelly makes itself apparent, and in the wake of government interference, the underground is bustling with action driven by fear.
The city is dominated by a tightly-controlled werewolf pack, but many other supernatural entities make Manhattan their home without ever feeling the pack's influence. The pack structure keeps supernatural individuals safe, but is most concerned with remaining unknown. Their policy of noninterference is shifting as fear of the government drives them to seek out -- and eliminate -- potential threats to their hidden society. Wolves, vampires, or other creatures of the night who make themselves too much of a nuisance may find themselves an unwitting target. Giving away the amount of paranormal individuals that live in the city is not an option; the pack will do anything to maintain this mask.
Those living in the city may find themselves yet untouched by the pack's new rules, but this is steadily changing. Long-term residents may become the victims of random drop-ins by pack enforcers, sudden and invasive background checks or home searches, and a curfew has been installed that demands all supernatural inhabitants not be found wandering the streets at night (this has, of course, been an outrage with the vampire community). Manhattan sits on the tipping point of becoming a highly militaristic police state, and players within this board are welcome to use this setting for their posts.
Playing in New York
New York is for writing within an established setting that you, the player, get to influence and control. The pack is not run by player characters. Higher-up pack members are always welcome to be NPCed and have influence over weres and non-weres alike; you may also play within the city as someone yet unidentified by the pack, if that suits you more. Please feel free to NPC any interactions you'd like between your characters and pack officials, but do not go overboard with killing NPCs, or doing anything that would endanger your character.
You may create a character already established in the New York pack. Enforcers are common, as are low-ranking members who are simply part of the pack to benefit from its umbrella of care.
Characters who cause trouble or otherwise make their affliction known will likely be hunted down, so you are welcome to play this out as well!
